the style, hairstyles and headdresses have been defined according to the time and culture of mankind, and that we normally associate with the female gender. Over the years, for men, hair has been the way they demonstrate their health and virility. Far from being frivolous, caring for hair also reflects the health and habits of each person.
We all know the typical phrase “you are what you eat” and, in this case, with our hair it’s the same. Although products that are applied superficially help keep it clean and tidy, its true splendour comes from within; you can’t expect great results if you’re on an unbalanced diet or drinking too much alcohol.
We’ve also heard countless times about the importance of taking vitamins and minerals, drinking plenty of water and exercising to keep our hair from falling out, but have you ever thought that it might be something you’re doing and not the other way around?
Yes, possibly those glasses of wine or the extra gin and tonics or that fast food burger you eat three times a week are the real reason why you see your hair looking duller, even less abundant.
Although food or alcohol are not the main triggers for you to lose your hair, they do affect it. For example, alcohol dries out the hair because it is 70% water, so if it is not constantly hydrated, it gradually reduces the levels of vitamins B and C, zinc (fundamental for forming keratin) and collagen, resulting in dry hair.
Taking care of our hair, and our health, is as easy as replacing negative habits with positive ones.
One glass of wine a week will not affect the condition of your hair, nor will it stop you from exercising one day, but you should consider integrating more vegetables and natural products into your diet, to get all the nutrients you need, not only for your hair but for your overall well-being.
Hair also alerts us if there is something wrong with our body, if it loses its vitality, you may have to start implementing better habits in your life. Feeling good on the inside is feeling good on the outside.
